Privacy Policy

Overview

KChime is an AI reply assistant. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

No message storage

Messages you paste or speak into KChime are processed in real time to generate reply suggestions. We do not store, log, or retain the content of your messages after processing is complete.

Secure processing

All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using TLS. We use industry-standard security practices to protect your information during processing.

User-controlled inputs

KChime only processes the messages you explicitly share with the app. We do not read, scan, or access any messages or data on your device beyond what you provide.

KChime Chrome extension

The KChime browser extension adds a reply-suggestion panel inside supported email and messaging sites. It is designed around two principles: it only activates when you explicitly ask for a suggestion, and it never sends data to anyone except KChime.

What the extension reads. When you open the suggestion panel (via the Alt+K shortcut or the KChime icon in the compose area), the content script reads the message thread you are replying to and the draft you have typed in that compose box. Nothing is read from any other tab, site, or field.

What the extension transmits. The thread content and your draft are sent over HTTPS to the KChime API at kchime.com for the sole purpose of generating reply suggestions. KChime forwards the minimum necessary text to our AI sub-processor (Anthropic) to produce the reply. The content is processed transiently for the request and is not retained after the response is returned.

What the extension stores on your device. The extension uses chrome.storage.local to hold your KChime authentication tokens (so you do not have to sign in on every page) and a single preference indicating whether the in-page suggestion widget is enabled. Nothing is written to chrome.storage.sync.

What the extension does not do. It does not track browsing history, log keystrokes, inject ads, collect location data, or read data from sites outside the supported list declared in its manifest. It does not sell or transfer any data to third parties, and it does not use any data for purposes unrelated to generating reply suggestions.

You can disable the in-page widget from the extension popup, sign out at any time to clear stored tokens, or uninstall the extension from Chrome's extensions page to remove all local data.

Account data

If you create an account, we store your email address, subscription status, and any replies or settings you create inside KChime. This data is used solely to provide the service and for billing.
